I feel that the Progressive Era brought a positive contribution to society. The Progressive era brought women's the idea and force of women's rights and more of black rights. Before, blacks had limited rights, and women didn't have any rights. Blacks just lived the daily, normal worked life and couldn't level up in society and work their up the corporate ladder. They were restricted to their daily lives. Women on the other hand, had only two jobs: clean and cook. They weren't allowed to work outside of the house and wouldn't be able to get payed. In some case, some women were able to get work, but would not get the sam pay as men did. This brought anger and protest. This protest later led to equal rights for women and blacks in the work force.
The Progressive Revolution also brought a clear look to how workers were treated and had to go through in the work place. Many families had to live together because their pay was to low, and house expenses were to high. Plus, these houses only had 4-5 rooms with limited sanitation and were located by factories,so these house were cramped, smelly and dirty. These conditions caused depression and disease. Many of the times, factories didn't have toilets or cleaning instruments. This made factories and place for bacteria and diseases.
These lifestyles spread throughout the country and became ordinary. Families would work, eat, sleep and repeat everyday for the rest of their lives. Their pay was so low, that it had people stuck in their current lifestyles and conditions for their whole life time. This would not let people move up the social class. So if you were born into an average "Joe" family, you would live like that forever. This caused many past, present, and future problems.
But the book "The Jungle" brought these factors to the public eye and this brought better working conditions and work pay.
